Traveling around the magnificent city of Minneapolis is a breeze. Leave your car at home and hop on the Minneapolis Light Rail.
The first Light Rail began running through the city in June 2004. Each year the number of riders has increased. At last count, during 2008, the transit provided rides for 10.2 million citizens. From 2004 through 2008, the Minneapolis Light Rail has hosted a total of 29 million riders.
The length of this awesome line runs 12 miles, connecting three of Minneapolis most popular destinations: The Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport, the Amazing Mall of America and the Mecca of the city, Downtown Minneapolis.
The Minneapolis Light Rail connects from seventeen stations located in areas throughout the city. Bus routes are structured strategically forming major access points throughout the city. Connections allow for easy access to schools, shopping districts, or just about any area of the city.
Hop on the Light Rail from Route 55, the Hiawatha line which provides the rider with connections to Downtown Minneapolis, the warehouse district, the Minneapolis Metrodome, Hiawatha Avenue, the VA Medical Center, Fort Snelling, the Lindbergh and Humphrey terminals, Bloomington and of course, the Mall of America.
Riding the Minneapolis Light Rail is also the most economical means of traveling through the city. For just a mere $4, you can ride the entire rail route for 24 hours each day. Pay $2.25 to access the rail during rush hours, Monday thru Friday from 6am through 9am and 3pm thru 6:30 pm, or $1.75 any other time of the day.
